Trader Joe’s French Berry Lemonade

My fiancée and I love Trader Joe’s French Berry Lemonade. It has a slightly sweet, slightly sparkling fruit flavor that can cause a bottle to disappear pretty quickly. I’ve been trying for a while to come up with a cocktail to showcase this fun ingredient, and this evening over dinner and Mad Men Season 4 I think I may have done it.

1 1/2 oz citrus vodka

1 oz grapefruit juice

2 dashes orange bitters

5 mint leaves

Trader Joe’s Sparkling French Berry Lemonade

Pour vodka, grapefruit juice, and orange bitters into a mixing glass. Add the mint leaves and muddle. Shake with ice, then strain into a champagne glass. Top with French Berry Lemonade. Garnish with a grapefruit peel and mint leaf.

I used Svedka Citron ($10.99 @ BevMo) as the base, fresh grapefruit juice and mint leaves, and Regan’s Orange Bitters. The end result is like summer in a glass. I was afraid of overpowering the light sparkling flavor of the lemonade, but it remains surprisingly present. The fruitiness is complemented by the subtle hints of tart grapefruit, herbal mint, and the citrusy sweetness of the vodka. And doesn’t a dash of bitters make everything better? This drink is light and refreshing with a bit of complexity, and will definitely be added to our cocktail rotation. Give it a try!

we need a Tader Joe’s in Springfield missouri, or at least Branson. There are so many people that ask where they can get it here. It would do a good business, we are growing so fast here. Please consider it. Thanks
